PD Opportunity Cross Discipline Literacy Network

2015-16 Cross Discipline Literacy Network (CDLN) fosters content literacy instruction practices that support teaching and learning across content areas for all students, pK-12.

Educators from all content disciplines, PK-12 are welcome to join.

The network will explore close readingintegrated units of study (elementary),  text dependent questioning (K-5 and 6-12), and strategies for teaching unfamiliar genres (6-12). Formative assessment opportunities embedded in all of those strategies will be explored in all strands.

The CDLN utilizes online webinars and in-person learning opportunities.

In-Person Sessions:  Will be offered in four regional locations throughout Maine and will use a facilitated Dine and Discuss format (light supper included). Opportunities for discussing professional texts, exploring instructional strategies, examining student work, and networking with other educators will be abundant during these events which will run from 4:15-6:45 p.m.

Webinars:  Participants select A Webinar Strand aligned to the professional texts used in the Dine and Discuss sessions.

Two 60 -75 minute webinars (after school) will be developed and delivered by Maine educators with support from MDOE content specialists.

Webinars will be archived.

Contact hours are awarded for both the webinars and face to face sessions.

Registration cost is $40 per person for the year.

Registration details and the link to the online registration can be found at:  http://www.maine.gov/doe/literacy-for-me/cdln.html.

Have a great school year and hope to see you at CDLN!
