Connected Coast: A Day of Learning
Please join the almost 100 educators from 8 districts already registered for a free day of collaborative learning. While our focus is teaching with technology, we’re not just looking for the advanced techie types (though they are most welcome). We believe we have something to offer all types of educators regardless of their comfort w/ technology.
You can get a feel for the types of sessions that will run by checking out the evolving schedule here: http://connectedcoast.blogspot.com/
Saturday, January 30, 2016 (Yes, we avoided the NFL playoffs). We will start at 8am and have sessions until 3pm. You may attend as much or as little as you like!
South Portland High School, 637 Highland Avenue
ConnectED Coast, hosted by South Portland, Cape Elizabeth, and OOB school districts, is a free day of professional learning that has a little something for everyone. The day features:
4 “Edcamp” Sessions with many rooms full of discussions/explorations to choose from. When you fill out the sign up sheet you’ll have the chance to make some suggestions. YOUR needs will drive the agenda! We’ve begun to build a schedule before hand (by picking most popular) and leave room to finalize the schedule at the event.
Featured Speakers – For those who prefer “sit and get,” we’ll have 1 featured speaker for each of the 4 Edcamp sessions, targeting PK-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 grade spans as well as a session on tech for special ed. We’ve got some amazing speakers for you!
Coast Chats – Inspirational Mini (10-15 minutes) Keynotes between sessions with Mike Muir, Jim Moulton, and the Cape Elizabeth Student Tech Team.
Discussion Panels – Hear from some students about how they are empowered with authentic learning experiences.
“The Makerspace Playground” – will be open all day long! Tinker, play, and experience problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity for yourself. Teachers with makerspace experience will be there to model lessons and give you practical ideas to bring back to your classroom. You can also learn to code with Mike Harvey from code.org
FREE Breakfast & Lunch… and… lots of coffee. 🙂
