MATHEMATICS: DEVELOPING and SUPPORTING ASSESSMENT PRACTICES (DSAP)

Start involving mathematics students in the formative assessment process and watch them become more self-regulating learners!

WHAT?
Ongoing, 7-month, blended PD offering for Midcoast mathematics educators to support classroom implementation and teacher leadership in formative assessment practices.  Learn to share learning goals and monitor progress toward goals including through students’ peer – and self-assessment.    Also learn strategies for supporting other teachers in your school or district with these practices.
  • Led by Cheryl Rose Tobey and other experts in mathematics instruction and assessment from EDC (Cambridge, MA)
  • Start w/ 1-Day Face-to-Face session  (some whole-group segments and some break-outs by grade cluster)  (Midcoast offering would most likely be in RSU 40.)
  • Monthly online sessions by grade cluster (implement an assignment during the month in your classroom and discuss / reflect on Moodle)
  • Fourth session is also Face-to-Face
  • Continue with 3 more monthly online sessions
WHO?
School or district teams of teachers (at least 2 in a grade cluster is a “team”—ideally, a district would send teachers from all 3 grade clusters but at least 2 in any grade cluster is OK)
